Sustainability Certifications

Most businesses are making their way to becoming more sustainable, and there are many different certifications to help guide green initiatives in the right direction. There are also robust management systems that can be certified to and audited. From measuring outputs to following initiatives, certifications are available to help companies follow increasingly important green standards.

Green business practices are a way of life here at Murphy. From LED lighting, to robust stormwater management systems and solar powered facilities, we take sustainability initiatives seriously. Our CEO Richard Murphy is a landscape architect by trade and has implemented many strategies into helping Murphy become a Green Supply Chain Solution for our customers. We believe that by reducing our environmental impact, we better serve our customers, employees and the community. To put it plainly, we believe environmental sustainability is not just the “right thing to do,” but that it’s simply good for business.

LEED©

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design from the U.S. Green Building Council recognizes green buildings with Gold, Silver or Bronze certifications. To have a building LEED certified, buildings must pass inspections and provide metrics in multiple areas.

Energy Star©

Energy Star certification is very well known with electronic products across many industries. When it comes to buildings Energy Star makes a large impact by helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.

ISO 14001

The ISO-14001 certification is an International Organization for Standardization Environmental Management System. The certification can be used by any company to help with a standardization of green initiatives.

Corporate Sustainability Report/GRI Appendix

Our annual Corporate Sustainability Report is a comprehensive account of our green initiatives. We work with outside sources to track and control all of our sustainability procedures. Murphy is the first company in our industry of our size to comply with the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative). We are proud to be transparent with our sustainability initiatives and results.

Environmental Policy

Our environmental policy follows a Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, model. We try to reduce the amount of waste produced, after that we reuse products like pallets and furniture, and then we recycle whatever we can to help divert waste from landfills. Murphy is almost a 100% solid state waste free facility, and follows strict guidelines to get there. We also continually improve communications regarding sustainability concepts to our employees, clients and suppliers. These policies along with our sustainable certifications help to make us a green supply chain solution for our clients.
